YogaSpace will offer two Teacher Training opportunities in 2010 - 2011. A one month summer intensive in July and our Annual Teacher Training Program, October to May.
Both programs meet and excel Yoga Alliance standards for Yoga Teacher Certification by meeting all curriculum specifications, 180 contact hours as well as extended complimentary drop in class passes and community class teaching practice.
Our summer intensive runs Wednesday, June 30 - Friday, July 31, from 9 - 5 pm Monday to Friday with weekends off.
Our Fall/Winter program is broken into 3 terms that run on Saturdays for 6 hours and Sundays for 4 hours on 18 weekends between October and May.
Term 1 runs from Saturday, October 30 - Sunday, December 5. December off.
Term 2 runs from Saturday, January 8 - Sunday, February 13. February and March off.
Term 3 runs from Saturday, April 9 - Sunday, May 22.
Both programs are taught by Kathryn Beet, Patricia White, Hali Schwartz, Ursula Buck and special guest teachers.
Summer Teacher Training Intensive Certification Program
This summer YogaSpace offers a one month Intensive Teacher Training Certification program. Wednesday, June 30 - Friday, July 30, 2010, 9 am - 5 pm.
The program runs Monday - Friday with weekends off and will take place at the studio,
at Trinity Bellwoods Park, at Kathryn's home across from the park and in Patricia's backyard on Delaware Avenue.
We have created this program as an alternative to our fall/ winter program for school teachers and individuals who work evenings and weekends as well as those who are looking for a deep immersion into their practice.
We are planning for it to be an intensely fun, indoor/outdoor, casual yet structured, hands on learning experience. Think Yoga camp. Students may enter this program specifically for the purpose of acquiring teacher certification or simply to deepen their Yoga practice.
Alongside the one month intensive from June 30 - July 30, students will receive a 5 month pass to all drop in classes at Yogaspace from June 1 - October 31 and will be required to attend 10 of Kathryn's and 10 of Patricia's classes within this time frame.
Students in the program who wish to extend their practice teaching will also have the opportunity to teach community classes if they wish. We believe that while there is great value in learning through deep immersion, students will benefit greatly from the continuity of creating and maintaining relationships with teachers and peers, before and upon completion of the 1 month immersion.
Registration Deadline: June 15, 2010.
To register please follow the registration guidelines at the bottom of this page.
Enrollment in this program is limited. Please apply early.

At the foundation of Yogaspace is our Teacher Training Program. Moving into it’s 11th year, with over 250 successful graduates, YogaSpace offers in-depth training in Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga. We work to bring out the unique strengths of each individual who enters our program. This year, for the first time, we have created 2 program options to meet individual learning styles and needs and fit into the real lives of individuals who work or go to school full time, are parents and/or have important relationships to maintain outside of their training. Choose the program that works best for you.
Students graduate with theoretical knowledge and practical understanding of asana curriculum, fundamental pranayama and meditation, therapeutic function, functional anatomy, the art and science of sequencing, visual demonstration, hands on application, verbal communication, fundamental philosophy and chanting and an introduction to restorative and pre/postnatal Yoga.
Experience has shown us that true learning begins once students begin to teach and so we offer extensive practice teaching on our drop-in schedule community classes. This unique opportunity has proven invaluable to students who graduate with 3 months of teaching experience on their resumes.
Unique to YogaSpace, students have the option to train in our highly reputed Therapeutic Yoga program and observe and practice alongside our therapeutic team during or following the training year. While this training is separate from the program, the Yogaspace certification program is a prerequisite for it. This Therapeutic Training greatly enhances hands-on skills. Some graduates continue to work in this capacity upon program completion. Let us know at your interview if you are interested in this program.
Our faculty are among the most influential teachers in Canada. Many of our graduates, have become well established Yoga teachers and Yoga studio directors throughout Canada, the U.S, England and Australia.
TheYogaSpace teaching team, comprised of close to 40 teachers including our teacher training leaders and top graduates, is a testament to the careful quality of our program. We are presently receiving applications for the October 2009-10 program. Apply early. Space is limited.
I took the YogaSpace teacher training program to deepen my practice and it far surpassed my expectations. I found it offered a valuable integration of sequencing, posture breakdowns, creative teaching, anatomy, yoga philosophy and the fundamentals of both Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga. The teachers were highly skilled and professional, as well as a lot of fun, and the people I have met in the program are friends that I will keep for a lifetime. YogaSpace has allowed me to enhance my yoga practice and gain confidence and strength as a yoga teacher. I began to teach early on in the program, which had a big impact on my skills and transformed my experience. Now as a yoga teacher, I have the opportunity to help and connect with others, which is an incredibly healing experience for me. I would absolutely recommend the program to anyone. – Michelle Uy
